AdultWork - Photo & movie gallery problems

Since my report of the recent DOS attack on AdultWork.com, I have been sent quite a large number of e-mails via this site, from people reporting a problem of not being able to see or access their uploaded photos and movies on AdultWork.

First off, let me reassure you all that AdultWork have not lost any of your photos or movies and that the problem you have been experiencing trying to access them is just a temporary one. All of your photos and movies will be available to you and anyone visiting the site in the next day or two. Actually, you should find that most, except for a few in the 'Private Galleries', are available now.

"So what was the problem with my photos and movies, then?" I hear you ask...

Well, from information that I was able to gather from the website, their technical team have been doing some major maintenance, by adding some newer, bigger servers, which will improve the speed and performance of the site for everyone. Part of this process usually involves backing-up and saving all of the data (your photos and movies in this case) from the old servers, before removing them. Then, installing the new servers into the system and running a multitude of tests on them, to check their performance, has to be done before uploading all of the saved data to them.

For a site as large as AdultWork's, with thousands upon thousands of photos and movies on it, you can understand why this important maintenance work would take a few days to complete. The end result though, is a more stable, better performing site, with faster loading pages and access. So, the recent problem you've been experiencing, is a small price to pay.

If you experience any other problems with the AdultWork site in the future, below is a quick tip that could help you to find out what might be wrong.

  • Tip: So long as you can access the 'Home' page (not the 'Enter/Leave page) of the AdultWork.com website and if AdultWork are aware of any problems, then they will normally post an alert about it on the very top-right of the page, as shown in the image below.

  • The image above also shows an 'Info' link in the alert, that will take you to a page that explains the problem in more detail and, if known, how long they expect the problem to last.

In my own experience, I very rarely ever encounter any problems on the AdultWork site, but on the few occasions that I have, they have always been resolved quickly. This is one of the reasons I regard AdultWork to be one of the very best sites to advertise my services and would recommend it to anyone.

If I want your opinion, I'll fucking ask for it

...and asking for your opinion is exactly what I am going to do right now.

You see, now that there is a bit of content here for you to digest (not much, but I'm busy working on that), I have switched on the 'Comments' feature so that you can really get stuck in and be a part of what's happening on this site.

For instance, if ever I post something that you really don't agree with (maybe something that offends you or makes you quite mad), you no longer have to just sit there cursing at me under your breath. Simply scroll down to the bottom of the post, hit the 'Add New Comment' link and give me your worst. Go ahead, get it out of your system... you'll feel much better for it.

On the other hand, if something that I've written has forced you to love me as much as the girls above obviously love each other, then I'd like you to hit that 'Add New Comment' link too. Hell... why not tell me in your comment what filthy things you'd like to do to me in order to release some of that pent up love.

If you are a member of AdultWork.com, were you affected by the internet terrorist attack on them last night? If so, how did it affect you? Have you had any trouble logging into the site today, or were you totally unaffected by it all? Why not go to the article that I wrote about it and be the first to give your comment (if you're quick), or go there now to see what others are saying about it. To find out what actually happened over at AdultWork.com last night, click here...

Basically, if enough of you take part and participate in these discussions regularly, we'll soon all start to feel a bit of community spirit coming into life. And when that starts to happen, I'll probably open up the forums here for you all and give you all your own profile pages and blogs and other stuff too.

You can start to get involved by simply bookmarking this site, adding it to your RSS reader, or by adding my 'Adult Biz Guru News Widget' to your own website or blog (it's on the left-hand side of the page). All of these things will allow you to get updates from this site and make it easy for you to return here if you see something going on that interests you.

So come on people... let's get this fucking party started!!!

AdultWork.com website attacked

In the very early hours of this morning, the AdultWork.com website suffered a DOS (Denial Of Service) attack which caused the site to stop functioning for a short period of time for it's members.

I was actually awake and on the site at the time that this happened, updating my AdultWork profile page there, when everything started to go a little bit crazy. Pages on the site became very slow to load, sometimes not loading at all, until eventually I could no longer access the site, no matter how many times I swore at my computer screen.

A couple of hours later, I went back to the AdultWork site to try and finish what I was doing and everything was back up and running as normal. The only difference was a short message from the owners, at the top-right of the page, informing everyone that they had been attacked and were in the process of taking preventative measures to stop it happening again.

"What the fuck is a Dos attack, anyway?"

Well, it's really quite complicated and technical to explain to anyone who isn't familiar with this kind of thing, but the Wikipedia website explains it simply as this:

A denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to, motives for and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally comprises the concerted, malevolent efforts of a person or persons to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely.

Perpetrators of DoS attacks typically — but not exclusively — target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers; a pair of DNS Backbone DDoS Attacks, on October 22, 2002 and February 6, 2007, targeted DNS root servers, in an apparent attempt to "disable the Internet" itself by taking away an option of addressing Internet servers by their human-friendly names.

One common method of attack involves saturating the target (victim) machine with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic, or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable. In general terms, DoS attacks are implemented by:

* forcing the targeted computer(s) to reset, or consume its resources such that it can no longer provide its intended service; and/or,
* obstructing the communication media between the intended users and the victim so that they can no longer communicate adequately.

Denial-of-service attacks are considered violations of the IAB's Internet proper use policy. They also commonly constitute violations of the laws of individual nations.

Or to put it another way, a Dos attack is nothing more than a terrorist type attack, conducted over the internet against a website, with the sole intention to stop that website from working.

Anyway, I've just gone back to check the AdultWork site and the message from the owners about the attack has now gone, so I would imagine that everything is now back under their control. Good on ya, AdultWork team...
